Basilisk II

Basilisk II is an Open Source 68k Macintosh emulator. It allows you to run 68k MacOS software on your computer, even if you are using a different operating system. However, you still need a copy of MacOS and a Mac ROM image to use this program. For more information, check out the Basilisk II home page.

Basilisk II for Solaris

I have created a version of Basilisk II compiled and packaged for Solaris 10 on SPARC (the package for Solaris 10 on x86 is still under construction, be patient!). There are no packages for older Solaris releases here. Just let me know if there's any interest for them (a little email will do), and I'll make them available too.

April 12, 2007: Basilisk II 1.0 compiled and packaged for Solaris 10 on SPARC:

You can install it with the 'pkgadd' command, for example:

unix# pkgadd -d BasiliskII-1.0.SPARC.pkg

The application installs in /usr/local:

You also need a copy of a Macintosh II or Quadra ROM, this is not included in the package for obvious reasons.

I haven't figured out yet how to get Basilisk II networking operational on Solaris (if possible at all). If I succeed, I'll post some notes here on how to do it.
